Kinesiology tape is a flexible, therapeutic tape designed to support muscles, joints, and soft tissues without restricting movement. Originally developed for human athletes, it is now widely and successfully used in both human and animal therapies.

Unlike traditional athletic tape, kinesiology tape mimics the elasticity of skin and fascia, allowing for full range of motion while gently lifting the skin. This lifting effect can:

• Improve circulation and lymphatic drainage
• Reduce swelling and inflammation
• Support fatigued or injured muscles
• Provide proprioceptive feedback to aid posture and movement
• Relieve pain by decreasing pressure on pain receptors

How It’s Used in Treatment Plans

​In our sessions, kinesiology taping is used as an extension of hands-on work—continuing the therapeutic effects after your visit. Based on the findings from your thermography scan, palpation, or neuromuscular testing, we may apply tape to:

• Support unstable joints
• Encourage better posture or alignment
• Facilitate muscle activation or relaxation
• Enhance lymph flow after inflammation or injury
• Provide gentle sensory input for neurological re-patterning

​Each application is custom-designed based on your individual needs (or your animal’s), with variations in the shape, direction, and stretch of the tape depending on the goal.
